IQ Info Analyst™
IQ Info Analyst (IA) is Teksouth's front-end business intelligence tool and is part of a fully intergrated suite of analysis tools. This Windows-based application provides the query interface for large data warehouses and data marts. IA can be customized to respond to specific customer requirements.
This analysis tool provides an in-depth ad hoc query capability, complete with grid-style, OLAP, graphics reporting, and export functions. The interface uses familiar features to reduce the learning curve, making IA easy to master. In addition, the user has total control over all elements of the query. The IA interface provides four key fields for the user to define the information desired and the requisite query to the data warehouse or mart.
Data Elements – the user accesses a data information display in an easy-to-follow hierarchical structure defined by metadata. This includes perspectives, folders, and data elements arranged in a hierarchy analogous to "folders" and "subordinate folders" within a directory structure.
Layout – the user defines what data elements (columns) will be displayed on query result reports.
Search Criteria – the user defines what criteria will apply to a search of the data warehouse, including values and conditions.
Output Settings – the user selects the output format desired, choosing between a datasheet (like a spreadsheet with cells) and a three-dimensional cube. The user can also choose to summarize reports or provide detailed results.
Whether you choose Teksouth's fully-integrated IQ Info Analyst™ or the Cognos suite of business intelligence tools, a world of data is truly in the palm of your hands.
IA OLAP Cube
The most powerful tool available in IA is the OLAP cube. This tool lets users take fuller advantage of OLAP technology by creating multi-dimensional formats and charts to display query results. The cube includes two charting tools that allow the user to set a variety of styles, formats, and other components.
The cube display is based upon the type of information (facts or dimensions). The cube sorts records by dimensions, i.e., non-numeric data that describes an organization or structure. Dimensions are displayed in a hierarchy which can be rearranged. Facts include numeric data, such as financial information, quantities, resources, inventory, etc., which can be mathematically manipulated.
Users can view and manipulate data in the cube. For example, columns of information can be shifted to re-sort the dimensions, pivoting data to create cross-sectional views, restricting the columns and values displayed, changing the appearance (fonts, colors, etc.), and creating 2- and 3-dimensional charts.
Custom Data Fields
IA’s data element fields are linked by metadata to actual data tables and schemas. Within the application’s GUI the user can create custom data fields – numeric or text – using existing data elements as the basis, and perform mathematical or textual calculations and configurations. For example, two numeric fields may be added, subtracted, multiplied, or divided to create a third custom field – which can then be used as one of a query’s output fields. Creating a custom field is a simple process. Every data element available to the interface is also available for use in creating a custom or calculated field.
Easy-to-use, Flexible Charting Tools

Cube result sets from Info Analyst can be converted to 2- and 3-dimensional charts. The charting tool is simple enough to produce quick, professional-looking bar, line, pie, and combination charts, but also includes a wide range of options to let the experienced user set precise details such as axis names, chart and background colors and fill, legend specifics, titles and subtitles, and an array of other chart components.
